Rocky Ford Ammunition Delivers Match-Proven Performance at the 2026 Tactical Games Iowa Regional

The Tactical Games Iowa Regional challenged every aspect of competition performance, demanding precision marksmanship under physical fatigue, mental pressure, and constantly changing conditions. In his after-action review, sponsored athlete Alex Rueda reflected on a weekend of hard-earned lessons while emphasizing that reliable equipment allowed him to focus on execution instead of worrying about his gear. Throughout the event, Alex reported flawless performance from his pistol, magazines, optics, and Rocky Ford Ammunition, noting that any missed shots were the result of his own performance—not equipment failures.

Rocky Ford Ammunition Delivers Match-Proven Performance at the 2026 Tactical Games Iowa Regional

When the pressure is high, the clock is running, and every stage pushes competitors to their physical and mental limits, there is no substitute for dependable equipment. The Tactical Games Iowa Regional is designed to expose weaknesses—not just in athletes, but in the firearms, optics, and ammunition they rely on. Rocky Ford Ammunition-sponsored athlete Alex Rueda, the 2026 Iowa Regional became another opportunity to evaluate our products where it matters most: in real competition.

In his post-match after-action review, Alex reflected on a weekend filled with challenges, personal growth, and lessons learned. While his overall finish fell short of his goals, his assessment of the equipment that supported him throughout the match was overwhelmingly positive. Most notably, he reported that Rocky Ford Ammunition performed flawlessly from the first stage to the last, giving him one less variable to worry about in one of the nation's most demanding practical shooting competitions.

A Full Rocky Ford Ammunition Loadout

Unlike previous competitions where Alex used Rocky Ford pistol ammunition alongside another manufacturer's rifle ammunition, the Iowa Regional marked the first event where he competed with a complete Rocky Ford loadout.

His equipment included:

  • Rocky Ford Ammunition 147-grain 9mm Match ammunition

  • Rocky Ford Ammunition .223 Remington 62-grain FMJ

That gave him the opportunity to evaluate both loads under identical match conditions while navigating physically demanding stages that combined strength, endurance, movement, and precision shooting.

Confidence Begins with Consistency

One of the recurring themes throughout Alex's review was confidence in his ammunition.

He reported that the 62-grain .223 load allowed him to engage steel targets from approximately 150 to 440 yards while maintaining excellent accuracy throughout the event. He also described stacking rounds on top of one another during a two-gun stage, reinforcing his confidence in the ammunition's consistency across both close and extended distances.

Equally important was the performance of Rocky Ford's 147-grain 9mm Match load.

According to Alex, the pistol ammunition delivered:

  • Flawless reliability

  • Consistent cycling

  • Reliable primer ignition

  • Excellent practical accuracy

  • A noticeably soft recoil impulse that allowed faster follow-up shots

In a sport where every fraction of a second matters, minimizing recoil while maintaining reliability can help competitors stay on target during rapid strings of fire. Alex specifically noted that the lighter recoil impulse allowed him to shoot more quickly compared with other ammunition he has used.

Reliability Under Match Conditions

Competitive shooting places unique demands on ammunition.

Stages often require shooters to transition between obstacles, engage targets from multiple positions, manage elevated heart rates, and maintain precision while fatigued. Under those conditions, reliability becomes just as important as accuracy.

Although Alex experienced rifle issues during the match, his after-action review identified those problems as firearm-related rather than ammunition-related. He determined that light strikes originated from his rifle's trigger system after testing the same ammunition in another AR-15, where it functioned normally.

That distinction is important because it demonstrates the value of diagnosing equipment issues carefully instead of assuming ammunition is at fault.

Independent Feedback Matters

One of Rocky Ford Ammunition's core beliefs is that performance should be demonstrated—not simply advertised.

While internal chronograph testing, consistency metrics, and quality control all play important roles in product development, nothing replaces independent evaluation from competitors using the ammunition in real-world conditions.

Alex summarized his experience by noting that his gear selection held up throughout the event, his pistol performed reliably, and the ammunition was excellent. Those observations came after completing one of the most physically demanding shooting competitions in the country, where equipment failures quickly become apparent.

Built for Competitors

The Tactical Games combines athletic performance with practical marksmanship in a way few competitions can. Success depends on preparation, skill, and equipment that performs consistently under pressure.

We're grateful for Alex's honest feedback and proud to support athletes who continually push themselves to improve. His experience at the Iowa Regional reinforces the philosophy behind every round we manufacture: build ammunition with the consistency, reliability, and accuracy competitors need when every shot counts.

We congratulate Alex on his perseverance throughout the 2026 Tactical Games Iowa Regional and look forward to supporting him as he continues his competitive journey.
